Airlines Alliance....Too Complicated?

After Qantas announced to partner with Emirates, British Airways also may form partnership with Emirates rival, Qatar Airways. According to IAG's big boss, Willie Walsh, Qatar Airways offered better connection to Asia cities and also suit to Oneworld Alliance.

WOW....the oneworld alliance become more and more complicated. As airlines obeserver, i'm expecting that Etihad Airways will become the next oneworld alliance due to several reasons: it has widely codeshare with oneworld member such as American Airlines and has strong linked with future member Malaysia Airlines. Other that, it has acquire 29 % stake of Air Berlin and became the largest stake holder in Air Berlin. However, based on reports, Etihad had discussed with Air France - KLM to cooperate and urges Air Berlin to form code share with Air France - KLM for european network. For me, it sounds like Etihad Airways maybe join to Skyteam. Besides of that, it has a smaall stake, less than 10 % in Qantas' rival,  Virgin Australia, becoming more harder for Etihad Airways to enter Oneworld Alliance.

Qatar Airways, is the one of the largest airlines in middle east, has more connections in the Asian and European (especially in the eastern and northern europe). It has the youngest fleet, mixing airbus and boeing aircrafts.Like Etihad Airways, Qatar Airways offering the best service in the class and the only airlines in the middle east gaining five stars award and top airlines awarded from Skytrax. Joining to the oneworld will be nice fit to oneworld alliance, but need to be more 'parallel' [Qantas cancelling partnership with Emirates and partner with Qatar Airways]. Moreover, based on Qatar Airways' website, the airlines has code - share with Malaysia Airlines, bringing passengers from Doha to Malaysian cities via KLIA. Since oneworld alliance is the smallest among others and has least network in Africa, Asian and Middle - East regions, and I believe that, Qatar Airways will adding more destinations to the alliance. Congratulation to Qatar Airways...
