Suggestions to new Malaysia Airlines - European Connection

Please refer to my previous post.. click here
To Tan Sri Tony Fernandes,
- It is better not to create a new regional unit of Malaysia Airlines.
- It is better to you, to focus existing airlines in Malaysia such as Firefly, Maswings, MAS, Air Asia, and
Air Asia X.
In order for competing to each other, but complimentary to each other.

A380 goes transpacific with Korean Air
First transpacific A380 service to US East Coast
The A380 has begun flying transpacific between Asia and the US East Coast, following the inauguration of service with Korean Air from Seoul to New York. The first flight departed Seoul 9 August for the outbound service to the Big Apple, returning to Seoul today, 10 August. The non-stop services have flight times of around 13.55 hours outbound from Seoul and 14.20 hours on the return sector from New York.
New York is the first long haul destination to be served by Korean Air with its new A380 and comes in addition to the carrier's existing services to Tokyo and Hong Kong. The airline will be adding Los Angeles A380 service in October.
Passengers flying on Korean Air's transpacific A380 services will be able to enjoy the highest levels of comfort on board, with accommodation for just 407 passengers in three classes. This compares with a typical three class layout for the A380 of 525 seats.
Taking full advantage of the unrivalled space offered by the A380, the Korean Air aircraft features an all-business class upper deck with 94 fully lie-flat Prestige Sleeper seats spaced six feet apart, while the main deck features 12 luxurious First Class Kosmo Suites and 301 Economy Class seats. The aircraft also features a host of special amenities, including a full bar on the upper deck and the world's first Duty Free Showcase where passengers can view an extensive range of products.
Korean Air took delivery of its first A380 in May this year and inaugurated commercial services the following month. Altogether, the airline has placed orders for 10 A380s. In addition to New York and Los Angeles, the airline will also begin flying the A380 to Europe later this year with service to Paris.
Since entering service in 2007 the eco-efficient A380 has exceeded all expectations, flying more people further at lower cost. The spacious, quieter cabin and smooth ride have made the aircraft a firm favourite with passengers, providing airlines with a key competitive advantage wherever they operate the type.
Typically seating 525 passengers in a three class layout, the A380 is capable of flying 8,300 nautical miles or 15,300 kilometres. This enables non-stop service with a full payload from Seoul to any destination in Europe, and as far afield as the East Coast of the US.

Ecuador's Tame Orders 3 ATR 42 - 500s
FIRST NEW ORDER FOR ATR IN THE COUNTRY
European turboprop manufacturer ATR and Ecuador’s national flag carrier TAME
today signed a contract for the purchase of 3 new ATR 42-500s, valued at US$
54 million. This is the first time ATR concluded an aircraft sale with an Ecuadorian
airline. This deal also reinforces the growing presence of ATR in Latin America and
Caribbean region, where there are some 120 ATRs in operation, plus more than
other 40 on order.
With the entry into service of these new 50-seat ATR 42-500s, starting in
September 2011, Ecuador’s flag carrier will develop “public service routes” in order
to bring air connectivity to some remote regions across the country. The new ATRs
will also help to feed main national airports at Quito and Guayaquil.
The ATR 42-500 is optimally suited for the country’s airports and operational
characteristics, which includes hot and high environments and short runways.
General Gustavo Cuesta, Chief Executive Officer of TAME, declares: “The
purchase of these new ATRs is part of a double goal. On the one hand, we
are renewing our fleet with brand new aircraft featuring the best ecoefficiency
and proven performance in altitude, hot environments, small airfields and short
runways. On the other hand, as a public carrier, we aim to expand our national
network, and bring air services to remote areas with convenient access to main
towns. Our new ATRs will allow us to develop services where the only alternative
today can be more than ten hours of driving”.
Filippo Bagnato, Chief Executive Officer of ATR, underlines that “this new contract
demonstrates there is a steady market for 50-seat regional aircraft. Today ATR
is the only manufacturer that can propose a solution for this market. It also
confirms the strong dynamism of Latin America, where regional networks are
being substantially developed and where we are recently experiencing very
good commercial success. The introduction of these new turboprops will bring to
passengers new standards of comfort, while helping the national carrier to optimize
its operating and maintenance costs.”

LOT Polish Airlines Unveils New Livery for Boeing 787 Dreamliner
LOT Polish Airlines currently has eight Boeing 787 Dreamliners on order and during the Paris Air Show they unveiled an updated livery that will debut on the Dreamliner. The large “LOT” lettering and bird will remain, but with many other updated airline liveries, the cheat line running down the windows will disappear. The aircraft will be configured with 18 business class, 21 premium economy class and 213 economy class seats. LOT is set to be the first European airline to receive the 787 Dreamliner, starting in summer of 2012.
The new livery is cleaner than their current one and it is great they are keeping the large “LOT” at the front making the airline easily recognizable. I think I can say I actually like the new livery quite a LOT (heh).
Check out Flight Global’s story with additional mock-ups of LOT’s new interior for the 787 Dreamliner and a photo from LOT of the model concept and some drawings at Paris.
