To Tan Sri Tony Fernandes,
- It is better not to create a new regional unit of Malaysia Airlines.
- It is better to you, to focus existing airlines in Malaysia such as Firefly, Maswings, MAS, Air Asia, and
Air Asia X.
In order for competing to each other, but complimentary to each other.
For Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Maswings, I've created new routes. I hope that I can help you, Tan Sri
Red ink - Existing sector operated by Malaysia Airlines
Green ink - potential route for Malaysia Airlines
Potential route for MAS in Europe
KUL - ZRH
The route from Kuala Lumpur to Zurich, was operated by Malaysia Airlines [i do not know when it started] before. During 2005, if i'm not mistaken. MAS has dropped several routes including Zurich under MAS turnaround plan. Then, Singapore Airlines, took this advantange, by adding more frequency to Zurich and finally, Singapore Airlines reduced its frequency but adding more capacity by introduce A380 to the routes. From analysis report from the routeshop.com, estimated that more 10,000 passenger flew from Kuala Lumpur [indirect, June 2010 - May 2011] to Zurich. If Tan Sri wants Mas flies to Zurich, it should operated MAS' Airbus 330 - 200 - due to right capacity and range.
KUL - SXF
In 2012, Berlin will open its new airport in Berlin - Bradenburg area, known as Berlin - Bradenburg International airport. This airport will combine 3 airport operation in Berlin [such as Berlin's Tegel airport, Tempelhof and Schonefeld (SXF)). Malaysia Airlines may flies to Germany's capital city, because the population of the berlin is 3, 468, 900[from wikipedia]. Moreover, the airport will be hub for Air Berlin, a member of Oneworld Alliance and the second largest airlines in Germany. The airlines is actually semi - low cost carrier which is fit alliance and code share with Malaysia Airlines. The airport's location is actually very strategic. Located in the heart of Europe, the airport located near to Scandinavia, West and Eastern Europe. Tan Sri, by introducing this flight, it is easier for Malaysian students to do flight connection, since that Malaysian students are currently study around Germany for enginerring, Poland and Czech Republic for Medicine course. Right capacity aircraft : either Airbus 330 - 200 or Boeing 777 - 200ER depends on demand.
KUL - ARN
Stockholm Arlanda International, was served by Malaysia Airlines. ARN was the Malaysia Airlines stopover hub before continue for Trans - Atlantic flight to New Jersey's Newark airport. The route was dropped due to low load factor. In order, to bring back MAS' need to find right capacity and aircraft, such as Airbus 330 - 200.
Suggestion Code Share partner - FINNAIR
Currently, Finnair, the flag carrier of Finland, flies to two cities in Asean, Bangkok and Singapore. For Helsinki - Singapore route, Finnair utilize Airbus 340 - 300 with frequency daily flight, while to Bangkok - five times a week. Helsinki airport is good hub for connecting flight between Asia and American, since MAS has no flight to North American, MAS should has code - share with Finnair. Furthermore, MAS can offer Finnair passenger to Malaysian's cities such as KL, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Langkawi from Singapore.
Air Asia X
Tan Sri For Air Asia X should focus for high density routes in Europe such as existing destinations - London and Paris. In order to avoid direct compete with Malaysia Airlines, Air Asia flies to secondary airport in Europe, or flying to destinations which unable to operate by Malaysia Airlines. [Similar to Singapore Airlines, if the route cannot operate due to low yield, change to small capacity aircraft. If then, the situation is not change, transfer the route to Silk Air and finally to Tiger Airways.
