Dubai, is currently one of the most important air - point from Europe, Africa and Middle east and to Asia, Indian subscontinent and Oceania. The Dubai airport is the main hub of Emirates airlines which is the largest international airlines serving to six continents destinations. Since the rationalization of MH routes, Malaysia Airlines has suspended routes to Dubai due to several factors such as high cost, lack of demands and Middle East Airlines competition and so on.

However, Jeddah is the only Middle East destination served by Malaysia Airlines. Since that MH pulled out the sector, Emirates (EK) has added frequently flights and capacity to Malaysia. In earlier 2012, EK has introduced A380 route to Malaysia. Thus, it shows that strongly demand of flight from Dubai. According to EK's website, EK operated 4 TIMES Daily flights to KUL which operated A380/B777-300ER/A330-200[cited on 3 July] which capacity a day is about 1482 seats per day or 10374 seats per weeks.

However, Malaysia airlines served about 1974 seats per weeks which about 16% of total seats to be served to dubai.. That is huge difference. However, i strongly believe Malaysia airlines will able to attract customers from middle east. Another problem arises is the fleet operated to Dubai which is Boeing 777-200ER. The configuration of cabin classes of Boeing 777 are already OLD need to refurbish to new ones. The brand new MH's A330-300 will be a good idea to replaced Boeing 777 in order to attracts passengers with new seats, IFE and so on. Moreover, by using new A330-300 will help MH to compete with EK inflight services which is well recognized one of the best inflight cabin classes in the world. Moreover, passengers flies with EK due to several reasons lower-price tickets, generous portion in meals in ALL classes, huge screen for IFE and many more. MH lacks of some of that, so i hoping MH improve services that match up with Emirates/Etihad/Qatar airways standards.

The reopen flight to Darwin, Australia helps Malaysia Airlines connections within Europe, Asia to Australia. It has been 12 years MH operated flight to Darwin and suspended due to less demands and financial situation. The sad things people of Darwin in order to travel to Europe and Asia, there have two choices either flies backtrackto five largest cities in Australia or flies to Singapore which have limited capacities. However, in 2013 Philippines Airlines introduced new flight from Manila and Darwin. but the problem is PAL has no direct flights to Europe, unless they have to fly via Bangkok or Hong Kong.

The introduction flights to Kochi also helps Malaysia Airlines well-presence in Indian Market. Kochi has also direct flight to KUL by Air Asia. By introducing this flight also would help competition between Malaysian Airlines. Finally, with introduction flight to Darwin will help MH boost passengers yield and improve connections in ASEAN regions and become more valuable for Oneworld Alliance

  2. Loiking back to MH experienced, MH was a huge name around 90s as they are flying across 6 continent and sadly nowadays only few europe routes still operated, i believe since MAS has joining One World alliance will open new future and hopefully MAS will resumes many more their former popular sector such as FCO,CAI,CPT-JNB-EZE,MAD,MUC,FUK/NGO/TYO-HND,ZRH, and to serve more muslim country perhaps MCT,ISB/KHI/LHE,RUH/DMM,DME,CHC,BAH

  3. latest info of MAS they will soon suspend all the Europe sector except LHR & CDG, this is due to rationalization exercise , including DXB. Now that MAS has join One World alliance they really taking advantage on code share for benefit. MAS now looking to strengthen the Asia & Australasia market. I hope MAS will consider to fly into many Muslim country especially middle east routes Oman MCT, KSA RUH & DMM, UAE AUH, Iran IKA, Yemen SAH or ADE, Qatar DOH, Jordan AMM, Kazakhstan TSE ,Iraq BGW ,Tasmania HBA & Australia CNS also into India CCU, TRV, AMD, VTZ or CJB, Lebanon BEY, New Zealand CHC & Pakistan KHI, ISB or LHE, i can see so many potential future routes here that MAS should considering to study. I hope a better future on MAS like they did on 90s.
