Malaysia Airlines Joins Oneworld Alliance!!

Malaysia Airlines joins Oneworld Alliance?

Last week, it was the most shocking and good news that Malaysia Airlines/MH  will joins the alliance in 2012 [ i expected will joins Skyteam.. but well, it was the good decision]. Within the period, MH entry will sponsored by Qantas , the National Carrier of Australia. Malaysia Airlines is the last five stars awarded by Skytrax to join the alliance.

What Benefits that can MH will earn from the alliance?

1.    Malaysia airline’s hub in Kuala Lumpur International Airport will gain more passengers. KLIA [I think the best connections in South East Asia]. Is the centre to the top – tourist destinations such as Phuket, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Jakarta, Denpasar in Bali, Bandung and etc compared to Singapore and Bangkok. [If MH is part of Skyteam or Star Alliance, it is difficult for KLIA to compete with other hubs such as BKK, SIN for Star Alliance and CGK, SGN,HAN for Skyteam. and becoming less favorable, and the same time Oneworld has less numbers of hubs in asia, other than CX’s HongKong International Airport and JL’s Tokyo Narita Airport.

2.    MH will gain more passengers from the kangaroo routes, because MH has twice daily flights to London Heathrow, and fly to five destinations in Australia, as well as to Auckland, New Zealand. Thus, MH will increase frequency and open new destinations.

3.    Cutting Cost, since that some unprofitable routes MH will codes hare with Oneworld members.

4.   More Airlines Partnership. MH’s passengers will enjoy more connections to North America, Asian, South America and North America and enjoy earning points, lounges access and so on.

5.    Qantas and British Airways are the good partners since that have less number destinations in Asia.

6.     Finnair is also the best partner, which flies more destinations in Northern Europe and has daily non – stop to Singapore.

7.    Air Berlin, which is semi – low cost airlines which own LTU has more destinations in Europe. This is great partnership with MH.
