Rumour: Asiana plans fly to Kuala Lumpur. When?

Based on Asiana section on wikipedia cited on 25 October 2013, reported second largest airlines in South Korean plans to resume new destinations in Kuala Lumpur. However, the website does not mentioned which references and when the airlines will flying to the capital city of Malaysia. Kuala Lumpur, is only big capital city in South East Asia not served by Asiana. The airline has introduced flights to Kuala Lumpur, but the route was suspended due to Economic recession in early 2000 and low demands. However, the city is  airlines is code - sharing with its Star Alliance fellow, Thai Airways International to serve flight to Kuala Lumpur

In addition, Kota Kinabalu is only Malaysian city serving by the airlines with six weekly frequency. Moreover, the airlines currently operating flights in ASEAN to Singapore, Bangkok, Jakarta, Denpasar, Siem Reap, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh and etc.

If Asiana decides to resuming flight to Kuala Lumpur, the route becoming intense (not as compared from Bangkok and Singapore) because there are other four airlines are operating from Kuala Lumpur. The airlines are Malaysia Airlines, its rival Korean Air and low - cost carrier, Air Asia X. Each airlines  offers daily flight except Air Asia X, which is operating four weekly service. Based on data shows that, Malaysia Airlines operating highest seats capacity (of 1981), followed by Korean Air (1947) and Air Asia X (1492). Asiana Airlines may facing challenge especially Air Asia X, the long - haul airlines unit of Air Asia group as the route becoming popular among budget travelers, but also for most Malaysian. Air Asia X fare is lowest as compared to other competitors  In addition, Air Asia X has already launched new service to South Korean's largest city in Busan (with 4 weekly flights). This might causing Asiana to reconsider to resume back its service to Kuala Lumpur. However if Asiana offers competitive price, good departure and arrival timing and beyond connections via Seoul - Incheon, may attract passengers from North Asian region and North American continents.

Conclusion
As conclusion, if Kuala Lumpur is added in Asiana operation, shows that the airlines is strenghtening is strong presence in South East Asia region. The presence of Asiana on Incheon - Kuala Lumpur sector, may increasing competitions among the operating airlines and boost both countries' tourism industry.
